We bought this 1977 Sears Gamefisher on 8/8/07 from a private owner, named Mike.  It seemed to me he felt
a bit bad letting go the old boat, which was a hand-me-down from his grandfather,  but sometimes it's just time
to let go.

After getting the boat home, I made my best effort not to get trampled by the wife and kids, as they rushed
outside to see her. (You see,  my wife Stormy quickly determined that the boat was female, and to be called
"her", lest we offend somehow)   Basically, for the next three hours or so, we just stood around her, and
crawled through her, getting to know her, assessing what needed to be done to make her once again sea
worthy, (or at least lake-worthy), and discovering that old fiberglass really itches.  So with a rash on our
forearms and legs, we decided that the only proper thing to do would be a complete make over, and breath
new life into the ol' gal.
Next, she needed a name.  So we tossed ideas back and forth, and finally settled on "Secondhand Jewel",
because we felt it paid homage to the original owner, and showed that this boat was no slut.  I even felt like the
grandson of the original owner, Mike,  who I bought her from, was not exactly exited about seeing her go.  But
so goes the ebb and flow of the tide, and we broke out the champaign, poured a little across her bow, and
donned her "Secondhand Jewel".
